Thursday, 25 January 2024 – Uisce Éireann is working to restore normal water supply to customers supplied by Ballymacraven Water Treatment Plant in County Clare following a major burst to a water main close to the plant.
Dedicated water service crews have located the leak and are carrying out repairs to restore normal water supply as quickly as possible. Customers in Kilfenora, Lisdoonvarna, Fanore, Doolin, Ballyvaughan and surrounding areas may experience low water pressure and/or water outages for the rest of the day while repair works are underway.
Darragh Conneely, Water Operations Lead with Uisce Éireann, said: “We thank impacted customers for their patience as we work to restore normal water supply as quickly as possible and it is likely to be tomorrow (Friday) before normal water supply is restored to all customers. We are appealing to customers to help conserve water by not running taps needlessly, taking showers instead of baths and to postpone using dishwashers and washing machines where possible. Further information on water conservation is available on our website at www.water/conserve. We understand the inconvenience unplanned outages can have on customers and we appreciate their patience as we work to return normal water supply.”
Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage.
Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.
