Thursday, 25 January, 2024: Water supply is returning to customers in West Clare following a mechanical failure at Old Doolough Water Treatment plant. 

Uisce Éireann crews were immediately deployed to carry out repairs and worked hard to restore normal water supply to impacted customers as quickly as possible in Old Doolough, Miltown Malbay, Quilty, Spanish Point, Coore, Creegh, Kilmacduane, Cooreclare and surrounding areas.

Following the repair work at the plant it may take some time for normal supply to fully restore to all areas, especially for those on higher ground or at the end of the network. Anyone who experiences issues with discolouration is asked to run the cold water tap in the kitchen for a few minutes. Doing this usually clears any unusual colour.
