American computer hardware and software developer and manufacturer, AVTECH Software, has opened a new global distribution facility in Shannon.
AVTECH develops and manufactures Room Alert, an environment monitor used in data centres, server rooms, and warehouses in over 185 countries. Recognised as industry leaders in America, they have chosen Shannon as a base as they grow their international business with a view to utilising the services of regional suppliers to manufacture their products for EU clients.
Speaking in advance of the launch, Pat Breen TD, Minister for Trade, Employment, Business, EU Digital Single Market and Data Protection said: “I am delighted to launch AVTECH’s new global distribution facility here in Shannon. This announcement is the result of considerable work by several groups both in Clare and across the water in the US and it is great to see it finally come to fruition today. The ability of Shannon to attract a company of the calibre of AVTECH highlights the strength of Ireland as a location that international companies can use to access new markets and extend their reach globally. This will provide a significant economic boost to the area and further strengthens Ireland’s business ties with the US.”
“This new facility will provide Room Alert products all across the EU, Gulf Region and Africa. We are very excited and believe this expansion will lead to significant growth, future jobs, and a meaningful connection with the Shannon business community,” said AVTECH Founder & CEO, Michael Sigourney.
Shannon Chamber CEO, Helen Downes, welcoming AVTECH to Shannon said: “In selecting Shannon, AVTECH has endorsed its attractiveness, in terms of infrastructure and connectivity, as a European centre for US companies seeking to reach existing and new markets. Further plans to utilise Shannon’s sub-supply base is also welcome news. I was delighted to meet the AVTECH team and representatives from the Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce and plan to expand on this unique partnership.”
AVTECH is using the distribution facilities provided by Shannon-based Titan Solutions as the base for their international expansion. Launching the distribution facility from AVTECH are CEO Michael Sigourney, President Rick Grundy, and CFO Anne Sigourney. Katherine Therieau, Director, International Trade Programs, Rhode Island Commerce Corporation, has also accompanied AVTECH on the launch. The launch is the result of an ongoing trade mission program between the Clare Local Enterprise Office and the State of Rhode Island, USA.
“AVTECH’s success demonstrates the collaboration now taking place between Co Clare and Rhode Island. This office is the result of a partnership between AVTECH and Titan Solutions, and numerous trade missions over the past several years in both directions. We hope to see many other partnerships come into fruition in the near future,” Katherine Therieau.
During their visit to Shannon, AVTECH met with Clare’s Local Enterprise Office, the Shannon Chamber of Commerce, and local businesses.
