Shannon Chamber Urges Members to Support Small Business Saturday

An Taoiseach and Retail Excellence get vocal about supporting local .

Next Saturday, December 2nd, will mark the 4th annual Small Business Saturday, an initiative  supported and promoted by Retail Excellence Ireland to encourage the public to shop locally and support retailers in every town and village across Ireland. Originally an American concept, it seeks to help profile smaller retailers and encourage all citizens to support them.

Retail supports 282,000 jobs in 37,400 businesses across Ireland. It forms the core of many towns and villages not just as commercial venues, but where neighbours meet and communities gather.

On December 2nd, Shannon Chamber, in conjunction with Retail Excellence Ireland, would like to remind you and your families to think locally and shop locally.

If  you are a Retailer (or if you know a Retailer) you can:

  • Print the poster (link below) and display it in your store to let locals know you’re participating in Small Business Saturday.
  • Tweet a photo of your staff holding the poster.
  • Promote Small Business Saturday across your social media, tagging Retail Excellence (@RetailExIreland) and using #ThisIsRetail.

Retail Excellence will be monitoring social media over the weekend and the most active and innovative user will receive a €100 FromMe2You Gift Card, winner to be announced Monday, December 4th.
