Shannon Chamber Welcomes Resolution to National Disruptions, citing critical need for operational certainty

Shannon Chamber has welcomed the Government’s intervention to end the recent disruptions that have significantly impacted businesses, supply chains, and regional connectivity across the country.

Commenting on the development, Chamber CEO Helen Downes said that the resolution comes at a critical time as Irish businesses navigate an exceptionally complex economic landscape defined by rising operational costs and global uncertainty.

“For Shannon and the entire Mid-West region, where international connectivity and seamless supply chains are essential for industry, the return to stability is a relief for both indigenous SMEs and multinational employers,” she stated.

“Protecting the flow of goods and people is essential to maintaining our international reputation as a reliable place to do business. Any sustained disruption undermines confidence and places additional strain on an already challenging environment.

“While the immediate impasse has been resolved through constructive dialogue, the focus must now shift towards preventing future occurrences. Ensuring that Shannon and the wider Mid-West remain competitive requires a commitment from all stakeholders to prioritise stability and open communication.

“Moving forward, we call on all parties to engage in proactive dialogue to address root causes before they escalate into disruptions of this scale.”

The Chamber remains committed to working alongside its partners and member companies to ensure the region remains a resilient and attractive hub for investment and growth.
