Shannon Chamber Encourages Members to Support Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2016

Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann is one of the largest festivals of its kind in the world. Next year Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann will take place in Ennis, from 14 August to 22 August. The Fleadh will bring huge economic benefits to the entire area, with an estimated €38million flowing into the county as a result of the festival.  The longer term benefits will include increased awareness of Clare as a tourist destination and we are forging strong community ties which can be built on for future projects.

As  with  any  festival  of  this  size  and  duration,  Fleadh  Cheoil  na  hÉireann  requires significant resources to ensure its success and they are reaching out for support to assist the local community in meeting the challenges ahead.  A unique element of Fleadh 2016 will be the “Sharing Clare” concept.  Through arranging cultural events throughout the county for the duration of the Fleadh, the economic impact and the opportunity for community building will be extended throughout County Clare.

The organisation of Fleadh 2016 will require the active engagement of 1,500 volunteers and a recruitment campaign is already underway.

Further details on the benefits of becoming a volunteer will be posted on our website in the coming weeks.
