Remembering Former Chamber President – Paddy Purcell – RIP

It is with profound sadness that we have learnt of the passing of one of our founding Directors and past Presidents, Paddy Purcell, only a few  days after he sent the below message which was read out at our 30th Anniversary celebrations in Dromoland Castle Hotel last Friday (28  November)…

A message from Paddy Purcell, President, Shannon Chamber 2001 – 2003

“I’m very sorry that I cannot be with you all this evening to celebrate. In our early years, we could only imagine what we, as a group of determined businesspeople, hoped Shannon might become. To see the seeds we planted 30 years ago grow into what Shannon Chamber is today is a testament to everyone who has contributed to this great member-driven organisation over the past three decades.

Shannon has long been an industrial powerhouse, helping to raise living standards across Ireland’s Mid-West for more than 30 years. My hope is that the innovative strengths of our international airport, and our industrial and financial sectors, will be fully realised by developing a vibrant town district that matches our ambitions. I know that the Shannon Chamber board and executive will continue to strive towards this goal with their characteristic drive and determination. Have a wonderful night and Hello to all my colleagues and friends.”

We express our deepest sympathies to Paddy’s family and offer our sincere appreciation for all that he contributed to Shannon Chamber and to Shannon throughout his lifetime. Paddy was a true friend to the Chamber, and his kindness and support will be long remembered.

Go raibh maith agat Paddy. Beidh tú in ár gcuimhne go deo.

May Paddy’s gentle soul Rest in Peace.
