Lufthansa Technik AG Shannon has a very active ‘veterans’ (over 35s!!!) rugby team who play a few times a year and often travel to Europe for some of their matches.

However, with so many companies in Shannon and no doubt many have active sports and social clubs, the current Captain of Lufthansa Technik’s rugby team, Gavin McGibney, is seeking to recruit new local opposition for a series of games in 2017.

Here’s the detail…

• A team comprises 15 players…can be male or female.
• Age category – average age of a team is early 40s to 60.
• 15 on a team
• Rules are agreed on the day with referee depending on the teams.
• It’s strictly social full 15’s rugby , full contact ish!
• Scrums are uncontested
• Lines out are on your knees
• Rucks/breakdowns are uncontested
• 20mins a half
• No kicking outside your 22
• These are just rough guidelines
• It’s fun , and those who do not want to be tackled wear red shorts
