IDA CEO Martin Shanahan to Address Shannon Chamber Lunch

Having reported a strong 2018 to date and half way through its current Winning strategy, IDA CEO Martin Shanahan will visit Shannon on Friday, 21 September to address Shannon Chamber members and guests at a luncheon in Dromoland Castle Hotel.

Shannon Chamber’s autumn lunch, sponsored by First Names Group, is being held at a time when recent investments from Edwards Life Sciences and Jaguar Land Rover have proven the Mid-West’s ability to attract and cater for new technologies, and well-established multinational and indigenous businesses expand their capability in the region.

With 210,000 people now directly employed in FDI companies in Ireland, 14,000 of which are in the Mid-West, Shannon Chamber’s CEO is more than anxious to see this number increase and is keen to hear how the Chamber and all stakeholders can contribute to making this happen.

“In many ways, Shannon is a well-kept secret; so many products that impact our lives at many levels are produced here. We need to broadcast this capability and the skill-set that exists here in the region that contributes to making this happen.

“Having this opportunity to listen to and interact with the CEO of IDA Ireland is part of this process and it also gives us the opportunity to hear how we are viewed by visiting investment itineraries and areas, perhaps, that we may be weak in and need to re-evaluate.

“It’s also an ideal time to take stock as we face into Brexit and look at the types of arrangements companies are making to position themselves to trade in a new economic landscape. Ireland is not the only country seeking to capitalise on the inward investment opportunities Brexit may offer and Shannon and the Mid-West has the infrastructure to cater for a wide spread of sectors and is very much open for this type of new business. We look forward therefore to having an in-dept discussion with Martin Shanahan on the positioning of Shannon and the Mid-West in such discussions.”

Shannon Chamber’s autumn lunch, sponsored by First Names Group and co-sponsored by Shannon Commercial Properties, Azon Recruitment Group and Laya Healthcare will take place in Dromoland Castle Hotel on Friday, 21 September, commencing with registration at 12.30pm.
