The Western Development Commission (WDC), in partnership with Shannon Chamber, hosted a highly informative ‘Lunch & Learn’ event yesterday, focusing on the Western Investment Fund (WIF) and its potential to drive economic growth for Clare-based businesses, community groups, and social enterprises. Held at Ei Electronics, the event drew significant interest from across County Clare, with attendees keen to learn more about the funding opportunities available through the WDC.

The event, which was well-attended by local organisations, highlighted the Western Investment Fund as a key driver of growth and innovation in the Western Region. With a range of funding options including equity finance and loans, the WIF supports businesses, community groups, and social enterprises in sectors such as business, strategic initiatives, and the creative industries. Attendees had the opportunity to engage directly with WDC representatives and explore how the fund could be leveraged for their own projects.

Speaking at the event, Allan Mulrooney, CEO of the Western Development Commission, emphasized the WDC’s ongoing support for Clare’s economy:
“We are delighted to have had the opportunity to engage with so many Clare-based businesses and community groups through this event. The Western Investment Fund has already made a significant impact in supporting local enterprises, and we are excited to continue working with more organisations in the county. Our mission is to drive sustainable economic growth and innovation, and we look forward to partnering with even more Clare businesses in the future.”

Access to funding is a vital component for success, and the partnership between Shannon Chamber and the WDC allows us to bring essential resources directly to our members. We’re excited to see the positive impact that the Western Investment Fund will have on our local community in the months and years to come.”
