Shannon Chamber was delighted to welcome a group of students from the Institute of Geography, University of Bonn, during their recent study tour of the Shannon region. Chief executive Helen Downes gave an in-depth presentation on the work of the Chamber and outlined how Shannon has developed into a Centre of Excellence in many sectors.
Citing the reason for meeting groups of this nature, Ms Downes said: “Third-level students will be the entrepreneurs and decision makers of the future. Many will set up their own businesses or become employees of companies who may be seeking to expand their operations. It’s so appropriate therefore that they are aware of Shannon and how progressive it is as an investment location.
University of Bonn’s Secretariat Prof. Britta Klagge said the visit to Shannon gave the students a great insight into how a Chamber works and how it, so energetically, goes about its business.
“Hopefully the students will take Shannon Chamber a role mode,” she added.
