Shannon Chamber’s 2025 Golf Classic, held in wonderful sunny conditions at Shannon Golf Club on Thursday, 19 June, proved to be another resounding success, drawing participation from 55 teams, reinforcing the popularity of the event among the region’s business community.
The event was sponsored by a range of leading companies across multiple sectors. Ei Electronics was the anchor sponsor and Flynn, Smithstown Light Engineering, Shannon Chamber Skillnet, Park Inn by Radisson Shannon Airport and Zagg associate sponsors.
Despite the searing heat, 220 business professionals from across the Mid-West region and beyond converged on Shannon for a day of networking, camaraderie and competition.
High scoring saw the team from Lufthansa Technik Turbine Shannon take the honours, followed by the Crowes Gala and CAE Parc Aviation teams. Nearest the pin was won by Cathal Woods from AerCap, and the golfers with the longest drives were Andrew Carey representing Crowes Gala and Áine Twomey, representing Shannon Golf Club. All winders , 12 in total, will receive their prizes at a special prize giving event in the coming weeks.
Speaking at the event, Chamber CEO Helen Downes said that this annual event, which is regarded by companies as an ideal way to treat employees and entertain customers and guests, is always booked out months in advance.
“It’s more than a game of golf; it’s a unique way for businesses to connect. The turnout this year reflects the strength and vitality of the region’s business community, and we are delighted to provide the space for them to meet, mingle and forge new connections.
“We are so grateful to our many sponsors, the participants, the management and staff at Shannon Golf Club, and Park Inn by Radisson Shannon Airport for mid-course refreshments, who make an event of this magnitude a success. Events like this reinforce the power of connections in business. Being able to host such a great event is all due to collaboration. With so many teams entered, it was impossible to have a prize for everyone on the course but the real win was the enthusiastic atmosphere that resonated throughout the day. We’re already looking forward to and planning for an event with new elements in 2026,” added Ms Downes.
