Having brought home the title of Chamber All-Island Golf champions last year, Shannon Chamber is hoping that one of the fifty-six teams booked in to play in its 2023 Golf Classic will, once again, retain the title when they go on to represent Shannon Chamber at the national event in the K Club in October.

Chamber CEO Helen Downes explains: “We have always had a full house for our annual classic but the additional element of the winners going on to represent Shannon on a national stage has added a new competitive edge to the event.

“Tee slots for this year’s classic, which is being held in Shannon Golf Club on Thursday, 22 June, sponsored by CREGG, have been booked up for months. This is perhaps linked to the fact that the winning team last year, representing Career Decisions, went on to win the all-island title. We would love to be able to retain the title this year and look forward to hearing who that will be when the finals scores on the day are returned. The only sure thing is that it will be one of the teams playing on the day.

“We always enjoy seeing our members having a fun day out with their guests, while competing from some excellent prizes donated by our very generous sponsors. Days like this are only made possible by the excellent support we receive from many companies, through tee and prize sponsorship.

“As health and wellbeing specialist Dr Harry Barry said at a recent event, interpersonal connections are essential for positive mental health. What better place to link up with business colleagues and customers than on the lush fairways of Shannon Golf Club with refreshments mid-way through the eighteen holes provided by the Park Inn by Radisson Shannon Airport.  The bonus will be good, sunny weather, which we expect given that our classic is being held so close to midsummer’s day.”

Event sponsor CREGG’s managing director David Fitzgibbon, in welcoming the opportunity to support this very popular event, adds: “As we embark on our 30th year in business in Shannon, CREGG is thrilled to sponsor this year’s event. It is truly fitting that we acknowledge Shannon Chamber’s impactful role in fostering collaboration among businesses for the betterment of the region.

“Shannon and the Mid-West region continue to shine in the international market, attracting not only new investments but also re-investment and expansion of existing companies. This, combined with the inspiring success stories of local enterprises, ensures that the region remains a top choice for businesses.

“While success can be attributed to various factors, the people and skills the region brings to both new and existing companies are instrumental. We eagerly anticipate supporting these companies throughout their journey, locally and nationally, leveraging our office network.”
