Shannon Chamber Congratulates its Hospitality Members on their Success at the Irish Bar of the Year Awards 2025
With the tourism season in full swing, Shannon Chamber is proud to celebrate the achievements of two of its Bunratty-based members – JP Clarke’s and Durty Nelly’s – who were both recognised at this year’s prestigious Irish Bar of the Year Awards, held recently at the Clayton Hotel, Burlington Road.
Both establishments earned Silver Awards in their respective categories: JP Clarke’s in the Gastro Pub category, and Durty Nelly’s in the Visitor Attraction of the Year category.
Congratulating the winners, Shannon Chamber CEO Helen Downes said: “Bunratty Village is a shining example of Clare’s outstanding tourism offering. From its beautifully landscaped surroundings and vibrant floral displays to the creatively designed bus stops, the village is an inviting destination for visitors to pause and explore. Anchored by Bunratty Castle and Folk Park, it attracts guests from across the globe. Having two local venues recognised in this highly regarded competition further enhances the village’s profile as a must-visit destination.”
Speaking about JP Clarke’s, Ms. Downes added: “Following a recent interior refurbishment and the introduction of an expanded, varied menu, JP Clarke’s has strengthened its reputation as a welcoming venue for diners of all ages. Its stylish indoor and outdoor settings, combined with exceptional service, are a testament to the dedication of Barry, Kieran, and their team. The award is recognition they truly deserve.”
On Durty Nelly’s, she said: “This world-famous establishment, renowned for its old-world charm and cosy dining experience, has been an iconic stop for visitors to Clare for generations. Its name is synonymous with Bunratty, and winning the Tourist Attraction of the Year award is a fitting tribute. While many visitors come to capture a photo of the pub and nearby castle, its unique atmosphere soon draws them inside to enjoy authentic food and drink.”
“We applaud the teams at JP Clarke’s and Durty Nelly’s for their outstanding achievements and look forward to seeing these accolades bring even greater visitor numbers to Bunratty,” Ms Downes concluded.
