Shannon-based medical device design and manufacturing company Gentian Services Limited’s core business may be the design and manufacture of electronic sensor-based products for the medical and health sectors but COVID-19 has meant it has had to adapt to a changing environment.
Throughout the course of the current crisis, the company has been involved in several COVID-19 response-related projects. One such project involved the sourcing and verification of a reliable supply of general use Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) facemasks.
Having built up a strong supply base both in Ireland and in the Far East and having sourcing and quality control personnel on the ground in China, the company was well positioned to work closely with one of its long-time suppliers, which resulted in it successfully securing PPE facemasks which are certified to CE standards. Gentian also has the added insurance of having its quality control personnel visit the factory, inspect and sign off on each shipment.
As a result, the company can now supply CE Certified KN 95 disposable respirator facemasks and 3-ply disposable facemasks as well as disposable face shields.
As managing director Aidan McMahon explains: “These are the most commonly used face protections for work environments or general public use. They are also used in non-surgical care environments. We are delighted to be in a position to supply these high-quality products to a wide range of customers in a variety of sectors.”
