Shannon Airport short-listed for global Aviation Marketing Award for sixth year in a row

Wednesday, 12 September 2018: Shannon airport’s reputation as a world leader in global aviation has been once again reaffirmed as it has been shortlisted for the sixth year in a row for the airline industry’s most coveted World Routes 2018 Marketing Award.

The awards will be held on September 17th next in Guangzhou, China at the end of the annual three-day World Routes conference, where airlines and airports get the opportunity to discuss new route prospects.

The awards celebrate airports for their outstanding achievements in route development marketing and beneficence to the industry.

Shannon is no stranger to success in this arena, having claimed the top prize for the ‘Best Marketing of Airports’ award for airports under 4 million passengers in 2016 for the second time in three years.

In 2017, they triumphed over three other airports to be awarded ‘Highly Commended’ honour in the same category, just behind winners Nuremburg Airport.

The awards recognise achievements from across the global airline network, firmly establishing them as the most eagerly anticipated events in the aviation industry calendar.

They also reward individual achievement, acknowledging the key industry players that are driving change and innovation.

The high-profile conference will bring together more than 3,000 representatives and officials from 110 countries, representing over 300 airlines and 700 airports, as well as more than 130 governments and tourism organisations.

Speaking ahead of the event Shannon Group CEO Matthew Thomas said:  “These awards are the most prestigious in the industry and to be recognised by the world’s leading airlines at this level six-years-in-a-row is a huge honour.

“It also affirms the hard work, commitment and innovation of our staff and shows the high esteem Shannon Airport is held in by its airline partners.”
