Revenue’s New Code of Practice Focus of Shannon Chamber’s First Event in 2015

Shannon Chamber’s 2015 calendar of events commences on Thursday, 22 January with a presentation by its corporate sponsor, Grant Thornton, on the new Code of Practice for revenue audits and other compliance interventions introduced by the Revenue Commissioners in August 2014.

The event, which takes place at Bunratty Castle Hotel, commences with a light breakfast at 8.00 a.m. followed at 8.15a.m. by a detailed outline of the new Code by Grant Thornton’s tax director, Theresa O’Gorman.

In her presentation, Ms O’Gorman will outline the specific revisions to the 2010 Audit Code, particularly with regard to:

  • The new developments on key audit provisions
  • The rules for non-audit interventions
  • Moving from audit to investigation
  • Prosecution
  • Interaction of the new Code with revenue projects

Launching the event, Shannon Chamber’s chief executive Helen Downes said: “With our expansive 2015 calendar of events currently being finalised, we are delighted to link with our corporate sponsor Grant Thornton for the initial event, and to have Theresa O’Gorman as our guest presenter. Ms O’Gorman joined Grant Thornton in 2000 and has over 30 years’ experience in all areas of Irish taxation having spent 17 years with the Revenue Commissioners.

“As this is the Chamber’s twentieth year in business, we are planning an action-packed year.”
