Mid-West Junior Ministers get New and Expanded Portfolios

Shannon Chamber chief executive Helen Downes congratulates Pat Breen TD and Patrick O’Donovan TD on being awarded new and expanded Junior Ministry portfolios by An Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar TD today.

“Minister Pat Breen will take on the role of Minister for Trade, Employment, Business, EU Single Market and Data Protection at a time when changes in data protection are pending and businesses are assessing the impact of Brexit on their trade to and through the UK. Having a Minister in the region in charge of a Ministry with such close association with business is tremendously significant.

“Patrick O’Donovan TD’s move from tourism and sport to the role of Minister of State for Public Procurement, Open Government and e-G0vernment will also involve linkages with business particularly in the area of public procurement with many indigenous companies tendering for public sector contracts.

“Shannon Chamber looks forward to meeting with both Ministers when they settle into their new roles to assess areas for collaboration on behalf of its members,” Ms Downes added
