Shannon Chamber is delighted to announce that member company Aerogen, the Irish medical technology company with significant manufacturing operations in Shannon, has been named winner of the 2026 American Chamber of Commerce Ireland (AmCham) Global Impact Award. The award recognises organisations whose work is delivering significant international impact and was presented at the US-Ireland Business Awards in Dublin. Aerogen was shortlisted alongside IBM Research Ireland and Trinity College Dublin, Boston Scientific, Dell Technologies, Verizon, Workday and Origina.

Aerogen was recognised for Project Aerogen Solo, which judges said demonstrates how Irish engineering, manufacturing excellence and talent, combined with US clinical adoption and partnership, can improve patient care at a global scale. Developed and manufactured in Ireland, Aerogen Solo is now used in more than 80 countries worldwide.

The award highlights the strength of the innovation and business relationship between Ireland and the United States and Aerogen’s role in that partnership.

Aerogen CEO and founder John Power said: “This award is recognition not only of Aerogen’s global impact, but also of the extraordinary work taking place in Shannon every day. The team there has played a pivotal role in manufacturing millions of Aerogen Solo devices that are now improving patient care in hospitals around the world. We are incredibly proud that technology manufactured in Shannon is making such a meaningful difference to patients globally.”

Shannon Chamber CEO Helen Downes added: “Aerogen’s success is a tremendous source of pride for Shannon and the wider region. This prestigious award recognises not only the company’s innovation and global reach, but also the exceptional talent, expertise and manufacturing excellence that exists within our community. Aerogen’s achievement demonstrates how companies based in Shannon are developing world-leading solutions that make a real difference to people’s lives across the globe. On behalf of Shannon Chamber, I extend our sincere congratulations to John Power and the entire Aerogen team on this well-deserved recognition.”

Employing more than 700 people globally, Aerogen has major operations in Shannon and Galway, with almost 150 people based in its Shannon facility.

The Shannon facility has become a critical part of Aerogen’s global manufacturing footprint, producing Aerogen Solo devices used in hospitals across more than 80 countries worldwide. It has manufactured more than 18 million Aerogen Solo devices in the last five years alone, representing the majority of the more than 30 million devices shipped globally since the product’s launch.

This is the result of an investment of approximately €34 million in its Shannon operations over the last five years, including investment in facilities, manufacturing infrastructure and equipment. Significant improvements have also been made in manufacturing sustainability, with the site substantially reducing the amount of energy required to manufacture each Aerogen Solo device.
