Exit Planning and Corporate Structuring the Focus of Shannon Chamber Breakfast Briefing

How many business owners start with the end in mind and plan their exit from the companies they founded? When is the right time to start preparing for stepping aside and realising value, allowing your business to be managed and run by other people?

These are some of the questions Shannon Chamber will be raising at an upcoming breakfast briefing it is organising in conjunction with Goodbody, experts in the field of corporate finance and wealth management.

The briefing, which takes place in the Oakwood Hotel in Shannon on Tuesday, 14 May from 8am – 9.30am, will involve entrepreneurs – Jimmy Martin, Founder & CEO, AMCS and Michael Tiernan, Founder and former CEO, e|net – and professional advisers from Goodbody – Don Harrington, Corporate Finance Director, and Catriona Coady, Senior Tax Adviser, sharing insights, personal experience and lessons learned on business growth, transition and succession.

Speaking ahead of the event, Shannon Chamber CEO Helen Downes said: “Business owners put so much feeling into their businesses and are so emotionally driven that they are rarely fully ready or prepared for an exit when the time comes to realise that value. Exits are oftentimes forced on owners and the results may not be what they would ideally like. That’s why they should devote some time and attention as early as possible to exit planning and corporate structuring.

“This briefing may be the jolt they need to give this more attention. It will be of immense value to business owners and senior management teams in helping them navigate the areas of exit planning, transition and wealth extraction. That’s why we have aptly named the event: ‘The Business Owner’s Roadmap: Driving Value at Every Stage of the Journey’. Entry is free of charge and early booking online is essential as we expect this is a topic which will interest a lot of our members and businesses in the area.”
