SUMMARY:Mid-West Lean Network Lean Tour at Advanced Technical Concepts
DESCRIPTION:Fully Booked!\nShannon Chamber and Mid-West Lean Network are de
lighted to announce upcoming Lean Tour which will be hosted at Advanced Te
chnical Concepts in Shannon.\nWhether you have an interest in finding out
more about Lean or want to take your Lean journey to the next level this i
s the tour for you.\n\nATC Lean Journey\n\n\n\n\nSome years ago we engaged
on our Lean journey but only had marginal success. In many ways the tools
were too complicated for a small business such as ours. This all changed
when we started embracing morning meetings and 3S (Sort\, Sweep &amp\; Sta
ndardise) as part of our daily routines. These meetings mean that all our
team now have a deeper understanding of non-value add activities and with
everyone now involved in finding 3 improvements weekly our workplace has d
eveloped a problem-solving culture where everyone strives to ‘fix what b
ugs them’ and/or ‘leave it better than they found it’.\n\nWe are min
dful that Lean is a journey\, not a destination\, and we are committed to
fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement. Our daily rout
ines whether they be our morning meetings\, our 3S time\, external benchma
rking all contribute to ensuring the long-term sustainability of our Conti
nuous Improvement practices and no doubt our ability to adapt to changing
market conditions and customer needs.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTo drive and track
our continuous improvement initiatives\, we leverage visual management too
ls like our “Improvement Board” and a dedicated WhatsApp channel where
our team share their improvements in the spirit of ‘Yokoten’ (Japanes
e for ‘best practice sharing’) so that if one team member sees an impr
ovement in one area that might apply to their area they can implement and
possibly ‘improve on an improvement’. This has helped foster a culture
of shared learning and problem-solving across the business.\n\nTo sustain
standards\, we have adopted GembaDocs after failing on many occasions wit
h different formats and templates of Standard Operating Procedures that we
re not user-friendly. This online platform allows for multiple users and i
s a leap into the digital space with Lean.\n\nYou get to see all of this i

SUMMARY:Domestic Abuse as a Workplace Issue: The Importance of Providing Wo
rkplace Support for Employees affected by Domestic Abuse
DESCRIPTION:On average\, a person spends about one third of their life at w
ork. Throughout an employee's work lifetime\, they will almost certainly f
ace issues such as sickness or bereavement at some point. Many employers
have good practices and support in place to deal effectively with such si
tuations. However\, employees may also experience far less commonly spoken
about issues that will impact their working lives such as domestic abuse.
Around 1 in 3 people are subjected to domestic abuse during the period o
f their working lives. Employees’ attendance\, performance\, and product
ivity at work may be impacted. In some cases\, abuse can occur during work
time or through work communications channels.\n\nIn 2023\, the Government
of Ireland introduced a legal requirement for employers to offer up to fi
ve days of paid leave over a period of 12 months to employees affected by
domestic abuse. You can also take this leave if you are supporting a ‘
relevant person’ such as a partner or dependant. The workplace has the
potential to be an important place of safety and support. The importance o
f maintaining employment and independent income as a basis for recovery ca
nnot be underestimated. It is important that employers are in an informed
position to effectively support an employee living with domestic abuse
and foster an environment where employees feel comfortable seeking assista
nce or disclosing their experiences.\n\nJoin us as we explore:\n\n The di
fferent types of domestic abuse and the support services of Clare Haven.\n
The impacts of domestic abuse on an employee's work.\n Recognising the
signs that an employee is experiencing domestic abuse.\n Exploring the le
gislation and aid in the development of a supporting workplace policy.\n
Responding to a disclosure of domestic abuse.\n Training and raising awa
reness.\n\nThe workplace response forms an important part of the national
conversation on domestic abuse and plays a crucial role in helping affecte
d employees feel less stigmatised and therefore more likely to seek suppor
t.\n\nThis is a breakfast event beginning at 8:30 in Treacys Oakwood Hotel

SUMMARY:Empowering Business to Decarbonise – SEAI Supports for SMEs
DESCRIPTION:In the first part of this session\, Aoife Madden will provide a
n overview of the supports available to businesses in Ireland that are loo
king to improve their energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions. She w
ill highlight SEAI’s Rapid Approval Energy Efficiency Grants and other k
ey initiatives designed to help SMEs take practical steps toward sustainab
ility. Attendees will gain insights into the application process\, eligibi
lity criteria\, and the types of projects that can benefit from SEAI fundi
ng. Whether you're just starting your energy journey or looking to scale u
p your efforts\, this talk will equip you with the knowledge and tools to
take action.\n\nIn second part\, Aidan Condell will talk about EEOS (Ener
gy Efficiency Obligation Scheme). This is a government scheme in Ireland d
esigned to drive energy efficiency improvements across homes\, businesses\
, and communities. It's a key mechanism for Ireland to meet its national a
nd European energy saving targets.\n\nUnder the EEOS\, the largest energy
suppliers and distributors in Ireland are legally required to achieve annu
al energy efficiency targets. These companies are known as "Obligated Part
ies."\n\nObligated Parties can meet their targets by financially and/or te
chnically supporting homeowners\, businesses\, and communities to carry ou
t energy efficiency upgrades. For every unit of energy saved through these
projects\, the Obligated Parties earn energy credits towards their annual
goal.\n\nThe SEAI acts as the administrator of the EEOS.\nSustainability
is more than compliance or environmental\, social\, and governance (ESG) r
eporting\; it will reshape your competitive advantage.\nCase Study\n\nHear
from John Gavin from Shannon Springs Hotel who has received funding and s
upport from SEAI to reduce costs and carbon emissions. It’s an easy win!
Supported by SEAI\, Shannon Springs undertook a comprehensive retrofit pr
oject. This included switching out oil boilers for air-to-water heat pumps
\, installing split AC units to replace electric heating\, installing Sola
r PV\, energy metering\, new pumps and booster set upgrades.\n\nFull story

DESCRIPTION:The EU’s Omnibus package is set to reshape sustainability rep

proposals\, only the largest companies would report under ESRS and be subj

DESCRIPTION:To celebrate the National Workplace Wellbeing Day\, we are deli

ts of long-term health and performance — your heart.\nKNOW YOUR NUMBERS:
\nIs Your Heart Keeping Up with Your Career?\nIn today’s fast-paced work

cial results\, but how often do we track the numbers that truly matter for
our health and longevity?\n\nJoin registered Nutritionist Mary Carmody fo
r an insightful and practical session on heart health. While many of us kn

s know the vital health markers that determine our long-term wellbeing.\n\
nDid you know that cardiovascular disease is the world’s biggest killer
and an estimated 80% of cardiovascular disease is preventable.\n\nWhy You
Need to Know Your Numbers\n\nYour "Why" is about more than a medical chart
. It's about:\n\n Energy &amp\; Edge: Maintaining healthy blood sugar an
d cholesterol levels directly impacts your daily focus and productivity at
work.\n Early Detection: Identifying high blood pressure or inflammatio
n early allows for non-invasive lifestyle interventions before they become
serious.\n Family &amp\; Future: Ensuring you are there for the big mom
