12 JANUARY 2021: The new €2 million state-of-the-art Laya Health & Wellbeing Clinic at the former Ivan’s Bakery in Caherdavin has opened its doors. The 7,416 sq ft facility has created over 20 jobs and is the third Laya Health & Wellbeing Clinic to open nationally.
With recent laya healthcare research revealing that one in five are delaying getting treatment or advice during COVID-19, the new clinic offers a safe and welcoming environment for those seeking treatment of minor injuries and illnesses. The healthcare services include walk-in urgent care for the treatment of minor injuries along with video consultation for minor illnesses for patients as young as 12 months. The Laya Health & Wellbeing Clinic is accessible to everyone — laya healthcare members and non-members — for urgent care needs with all patients seen within one hour. The most common treatment in the clinics to date is for minor injuries, accounting for over 60% of all visits to the Laya Health & Wellbeing Clinics nationwide.*
On the opening of the new clinic, John McCall, Director of Claims and Provider Relations at laya healthcare said: “The need for easy-to-access and immediate treatment and care in a safe environment has never been greater, and the Laya Health & Wellbeing Clinics provide consultant-led care for minor injuries and illnesses as well as a comprehensive breadth of wellbeing services. Our most recent research revealed that one in five have delayed getting treatment or advice during COVID-19. That is concerning and we hope that this new clinic assists in turning this trend around. People want care delivered from a local facility that avoids the need of having to go into hospital unless they really need to. Our new facility will help this, along with alleviating the strain on hospitals’ emergency departments.”
The Laya Health & Wellbeing Clinic is open from 10am – 10pm, 365 days a year. Currently, walk-in access is reserved for minor injuries, such as sprains, fractures, minor head injuries and minor burns. For minor illness, a video consultation, or a face-to-face consultation will be arranged on an appointment basis only. Wellbeing services such as Heartbeat Cardiac Screenings (available to members aged 12 and over) and personalised health and fitness Healthcoach consultations (available to members aged 16 and over) will also be available at the clinic in the coming months, exclusively available for laya healthcare members.
The new multi-million-euro Limerick clinic is part of laya healthcare’s plan to open five Laya Health & Wellbeing Clinics across the country. Laya healthcare’s Dublin and Galway clinics opened in the past year and two further facilities are earmarked to open over the next two years with a total investment of over €5 million.
