Despite recent negative publicity, the national internship JobBridge scheme is a very worthwhile initiative with 96% of employers recommending the Scheme. An Indeacon report, published in May, also pointed to the Scheme being highly recommended by internees.Ā The benefits they gained from partaking in JobBridge included acquiring new skills, gaining quality work, improvingĀ their chances of gaining employment, improved self-confidence and the ability to establish contacts and networks.
The Shannon Chamber event also included presentations on JobsPlus, an employment grant paid over two years in respect of employees hired from the Live Register and the Departmentās International Employment Services programme, EURES, which helps employers to recruit employees from Europe, helps jobseekers find work in Europe and, advises and counsels mobile workers.
