Shannon Chamber welcomes today’s announcement by United Airlines that it will relaunch its Shannon Chicago O’Hare route on a seasonal basis from April 2023.

“The availability of a daily nonstop service to this central US hub will be of tremendous benefit to both the leisure and business traveller,” states Shannon Chamber chief executive Helen Downes.

“The aircraft type, a Boeing 757-200, and seating capacity is a great choice. The range of seat-types on offer will particularly appeal to the business traveller who may wish to work while in flight.

“We congratulate The Shannon Airport Group’s aviation development team for securing this additional service for Shannon, hot on the heels of last week’s announcement that Ryanair is adding two new routes and basing a third aircraft at Shannon.

“We look forward to seeing a high yield on all these new services. We will play our part in ensuring that Shannon is seen as the airport of choice by our members and their families. With more advance planning going into travel arrangements, we will be encouraging our member companies to share information on flight availability from Shannon with their employees to ensure that they think Shannon first when considering making a booking.”
