As a response to the Covid19 Pandemic, the Department of Employment Affairs & Social Protection , Ennis Intreo Centre Kilrush Road Ennis Co. Clare, is endeavouring to respond as quickly as possible to the unprecedented demand for unemployment payments and wants to ensure that people do not need to attend Intreo Centres to apply for assistance.
As a temporary measure the Department has a new emergency payment which will last for a maximum of six weeks. The ‘COVID-UP ‘ pdf below is the application form for this emergency payment which will be paid at the rate of €203 per week. Customers do not need a current PSC Card to apply for this payment – this payment will be paid for 6 weeks. N.B. – People will also need to apply for a ‘primary DESP payment’ – this can be either Jobseekers Allowance/Benefit or Illness Benefit
For an Employee to receive a full unemployment payment, a UP1 form needs to be completed and submitted (see below)
All new customers of the Department who wish to apply for Jobseekers Benefit or jobseekers allowance must have a current Public Services Card (PSC). To obtain this card an appointment can be made via MyGov.ie or by emailing PSCEnnis@welfare.ie . In the case where an employee does not have an entitlement to Jobseekers Benefit and wishes to apply for jobseekers allowance the attached means assessment must also be completed.
If any employee has been told by their GP or the HSE to self-isolate, they should apply for assistance on an illness benefit application form can be obtained by telephone on 1890 800 024.
