Irish RegTech company calQrisk selected by the UK Financial Conduct Authority to develop next-generation AI for financial services

Shannon-based software company joins the FCA’s Supercharged Sandbox as it continues its international growth and innovation journey.

Shannon, Ireland – Irish governance, risk and compliance (GRC) software company calQrisk has been selected to join the UK Financial Conduct Authority’s (FCA) Supercharged Sandbox, one of Europe’s leading innovation programmes for financial technology.

The selection recognises calQrisk’s work in applying artificial intelligence to some of the most complex governance and regulatory challenges facing financial services organisations today. Through the programme, the company will work alongside the FCA to accelerate the development of new AI capabilities that help regulated firms strengthen governance, improve regulatory oversight and provide continuous assurance to senior decision-makers.

Participation in the Supercharged Sandbox provides selected organisations with access to FCA regulatory expertise, advanced computing infrastructure and synthetic financial datasets, enabling innovative technologies to be developed and validated within a controlled regulatory environment.

Founded in Shannon, County Clare, calQrisk has grown from an Irish GRC software provider into an internationally recognised RegTech business serving almost 300 organisations across financial services and other highly regulated sectors. Customers include banks, insurers, investment firms, payment providers and credit unions throughout the UK, Ireland and beyond.
The announcement represents another significant milestone for the company, following recent international recognition through the RegTech100 and multiple industry awards recognising innovation in governance, risk and compliance technology.

Chris Hanlon, CEO of calQrisk, said:

This is a significant milestone for our business and for the innovation taking place within Ireland’s technology sector.
Being selected by the FCA validates both our vision and the investment we’ve made over many years in building a trusted governance, risk and compliance platform. We’re excited to work alongside one of the world’s leading financial regulators as we develop the next generation of AI capabilities for regulated organisations.”

He added:

“Senior leaders today are expected to make decisions quickly while demonstrating robust governance and regulatory oversight. Our ambition is to help organisations connect fragmented information and transform it into meaningful, real-time assurance that supports better decisions and stronger outcomes.”

The company believes artificial intelligence has the potential to significantly improve governance and compliance when deployed responsibly. Rather than replacing human judgement, calQrisk’s approach focuses on helping organisations make better use of the information they already hold within secure, governed and auditable processes.

With continued investment in AI, product innovation and international expansion, the company expects participation in the FCA programme to further strengthen its position as one of Ireland’s leading RegTech businesses.
