Uisce Éireann completes burst repairs, restoring water supply to customers in Ennis and Shannon
Tuesday, 14 July 2026: Uisce Éireann crews have repaired a major burst water main supplying the Ennis Water Treatment Plant, with water supply now fully restored to customers in Ennis town and surrounding areas.Repair crews were mobilised immediately after the burst occurred early on Monday morning and worked until 11.30pm to complete the complex repairs.To support impacted customers, an alternative water supply will remain at Ennis Mart until 9pm this evening. Customers are reminded to bring their own containers when collecting water from the tanker and to boil the water before consumption as a precautionary measure.
Separately, Uisce Éireann worked through the night until 6.30am this morning to complete repairs to a significant burst that occurred in Shannon on Monday evening. Supply is now returning to customers in Shannon town, Shannon Industrial Park and surrounding areas. Typically, it can take three to four hours for normal supply to be fully restored to all properties after an unplanned outage. Customers located at the end of the network or on higher ground may experience longer restoration times as the system recharges.
