Cliona’s Foundation is a National charity with their office in Limerick that provides financial assistance directly to parents of children with life-limiting or chronic complex care needs across Ireland to help with the non-medical expenses related to caring for their child.

Cliona’s Foundation believes no family should suffer financially when caring for a seriously ill child

Cliona’s provides nationwide direct financial assistance to families to help with the multiple non-medical costs of caring for their seriously sick child.
Right now, there are 4,000 children battling with a life limiting illness in Ireland. 400 of these will die this year. Parents of these 4,000 children are away from home for long periods of time while they care for their child- paying for accommodation, food, transport, having to take time out of work, pay childminders to look after their other children and also have to purchase specialized equipment.

It is estimated that it costs an additional €10,000 per annum to care for a child with a life limiting condition.
For some families it is the harsh reality that they cannot afford to be by their sick child’s bedside while in hospital due to the associated costs.
Funds raised by Cliona’s are not used to pay for the child’s medical – care: rather donations are made to help with the “hidden” costs of caring

Cliona’s has provided support to 1,200 families across Ireland since 2008 up to the end of December 2022.

Year to date in 2023 Cliona;s has supported 87 families at a cost of €217,800
