The University of Limerick and Limerick Institute of Technology have several initiatives to support small organisations.  The Archimedes project developed tailored digital learning with an immediate return on investment to assist SMEs to address daily problems they face. In addition, both institutes have had many successful research projects targeted at making SMEs more productive and allowing them to expand into new markets.  Furthermore, both organisations have supported a number of start-ups through UL’s Nexus Innovation Centre and LIT’s Enterprise centres. Several of our academic staff also work with local companies to provide advice to struggling small businesses.

The event will present some short case studies of the above initiatives in which both small businesses and educational institutes have benefited from collaborating with each other, you will hear from both small businesses and third level regarding what has made such collaborations a success. It will be of benefit to local SMEs and SME representative bodies local enterprise offices and chambers of commerce,
