Description

The Mid-West Lean Network: the second largest regional lean network in Ireland, after Waterford Institute of Technology’s Lean Enterprise Excellence Group, launched in November, was set up to strengthen and increase the existing culture of lean within the Shannon and the wider Mid-West region. Its aim is to enable each industry to broaden and strengthen their competitiveness through knowledge sharing and bench-marking against each other and different industries.

 Registration from 8.30 am

Workshop #3 will take place in Takumi Precision Engineering and will focus on:

A3  –  The basic Problem Solving Tool.

The A3 problem solving methodology can be used to solve any problem or non value-added issue that needs to be addressed by any department e.g. Finance, HR, Engineering, Customer Services, Purchasing, Manufacturing etc. It captures  the main elements of an issue or project on a single A3 sheet.

An A3 project will drive the project team to consider carefully these 4 main elements:

  1. The Problem statement – what is the pain being caused for the organization?
  2. The Gap – The distance from here to where you want to be.
  3. The Root Cause – What are the obstacles leading to the Gap
  4. The Countermeasures – What will you do to remove the root causes.

Presenter: Shane McMahon, Engineering Manager

A graduate of UL in 1996. Joined Takumi in 2005 as Production manager having spent time with Stryker and Lufthansa as a manufacturing engineer. His current role includes managing the CI process for Takumi.
