World Bicycle Day is a global celebration of the humble two-wheeler, declared by the UN in 2018 to promote sustainable mobility and health. On this day, cyclists around the world organise events, rides, workshops, and campaigns to raise awareness and appreciation for the benefits of cycling.

Shannon is now joining this cohort of global cyclists by launching its first World Bicycle Day event, thanks to a collaboration between Shannon Chamber, Clare County Council, Fine Grain Property, Shannon Town Centre, HSE, CoMotion, Clare Sports Partnership and the Road Safety Authority.
This fun-themed lunchtime event will involve:
- Cycling from the Shannon Free Zone (former Molex car park, opposite Aerogen) to Shannon Town Centre (a return trip), during lunchtime.
- A stop-off at Shannon Town centre for food (at cyclists’ own expense), ice cream (compliments of Fine Grain Property only for cyclists) and entertainment.
- Bike repair clinic with Shane from The Bike Doc.
- A free Health Check with the HSE.
We invite all companies in Shannon to participate in this pilot event.
Employees can either use their own bikes or one of the 50 company-branded CoMotion e-bikes on offer in Shannon.
CoMotion is kindly offering FREE access to all to the scheme for the week commencing Monday, 3 June to Friday, 7 June.
