Shannon and the Mid-West is a recognised centre for enterprise and innovation but, what lies ahead?

Shannon Chamber has invited a panel of experienced commentators to present their views on this very critical topic and partake in a post-lunch panel discussion, which will be opened to the floor for comments.

The Panel:

  • Denis Curran, IDA Ireland: Member of the Executive Leadership team at IDA Ireland and currently oversees IDA’s Regional Development, Corporate Governance and Services and Engineering Divisions.
  • Mark Christal, Enterprise Ireland: Divisional Manager, Regions and Entrepreneurship Division, 
  • Mary Considine, Acting CEO, Shannon Group plc. 
  • Enda O’Coineen, Founder & Partner, Kilcullen Kapital and owner of the Sunday Business Post 

Topics for discussion will include:

Panel Speakers

 

 

Mary Considine, Shannon Group plc

Mary is Acting CEO of the Shannon Group plc. The Group employs over 600 staff and manages Shannon Airport, Shannon Commercial Properties, Shannon Heritage and the International Aviation Services Centre (IASC) brand which supports the growing aviation cluster in and around Shannon. The Group is a major driver of economic activity in the West of Ireland. Mary is a qualified accountant by profession and has extensive experience in aviation, finance, governance & commercial having previously held a number of senior roles within the Group.

Mary was appointed President of Shannon Chamber in June 2018.  She is also a member of the Governing Authority of Mary Immaculate College and a member of the VHI Advisory Council.


Enda O’Coineen 

Enda O’Coineen has a strong background in hospitality, technology, finance and corporate governance. He has worked in investment management, has led enterprises in the chairman and CEO roles and has a broad range of small and large transaction experience – investing directly, and on behalf of third parties. He also has an extensive domestic and international multi-channel sales and brand building background.

In addition to success in management, finance and leadership, Mr. O’Coineen believes strongly in ‘putting something back in’ and in particular has contributed significant time and personal resource into youth development and community. This includes being a founding chairman of the Volvo Ocean Race project in Galway, on a voluntary basis, which generated over €100m direct benefit to the local economy. He is also founding President of the Atlantic Youth Trust which plans to introduce over 1,000 young people annually to ocean adventure, challenge and personal development. He is also a founder and President of the Irish Pubs Global Federation which has in excess of 7,000 members worldwide. Mr. O’Coineen is a published author with four books to date, including The Unsinkable Entrepreneur.


Mark Christal, Enterprise Ireland

Mark Christal is the Divisional Manager of the Regions and Entrepreneurship division in Enterprise Ireland responsible for working with Irish owned companies to support them in key business areas including Competitiveness, Innovation, Leadership and Management development.  His responsibilities include Regional Development and leading Enterprise Irelands engagement with the Local Enterprise Offices within the Local Authorities.

Mark is a Masters graduate of University College Dublin and also holds an MBS in Human Resource Management from the UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School.


Denis Curran, IDA Ireland

Denis is a member of the Executive Leadership team at IDA Ireland and currently oversees IDA’s Regional Development, Corporate Governance and Services and Engineering Divisions.

Prior to being appointed to IDA’s Executive Leadership, Denis was Global Head of Department in IDA Ireland’s International Financial Services Division. He oversaw a global team managing a client portfolio of more than 240 international corporations across International Banking; Insurance; Asset Management and Servicing; Aircraft Leasing and Fintech and Payments. This involved partnering with global leading financial and technology companies, many of whom leverage Ireland as part of their global strategic operations. More recently this included working with clients on their respective Brexit strategies.

Prior to joining the Financial Services Division, Denis was Head of Strategic Clients in IDA’s Technology Division, working with the leadership teams in companies such as Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, SAP AG, Symantec, McAfee and Salesforce.com on international subsidiary strategy and transformation.

Events Cancellation Policy: Cancellations will be accepted up to 72hrs before each event. Events which are cancelled within 72 hours of scheduled date shall incur a cancellation fee equal to 50% of the agreed cost.
