Cost of Business Advisory Forum Final Report now Published
The Cost of Business Advisory Forum has published its final report, setting out 63 recommendations aimed at addressing the structural factors contributing to the cost of doing business in Ireland. Established by Government in response to growing concerns about competitiveness and rising business costs, the Forum brought together representatives from business organisations, including the Chamber network, as well as industry and Government to examine the pressures facing businesses across sectors and sizes.
The report examines a broad range of cost pressures affecting businesses and makes recommendations under each of the priority areas below:
- Energy costs and security of supply
- Insurance costs
- Planning, regulatory burden and infrastructural delivery
- Water and wastewater services
- Legal costs
- Regulatory compliance and tax administration
- Banking, payments and financial services
Chambers Ireland, of which Shannon Chamber is an affiliate, welcomed the publication of the report and the engagement with business representative organisations throughout its development. It has called for the recommendations to be translated into a clear implementation plan with defined timelines, lead agencies, regular public reporting and ongoing business engagement to ensure that the report delivers meaningful improvements for businesses across the country.
